LennyLight - babywearing consultant review

Post

Just when it seemed that there were already enough baby carriers on the market, LennyLamb added another model to its collection. In summer 2023, LennyLight joined Lenny’s family. Has this compact newcomer been well received by CarryLove customers? What does a babywearing consultant think of the new baby carrier?

LennyLight is the new baby carrier from LennyLamb. It joins the well-known and loved models that grow along with our little ones: LennyUpGrade, LennyHybrid and LennyPreschool. Because of its adjustment range (62-98/104), I will compare it only with two of those “brothers”.

All LennyLamb carriers enjoy unflagging popularity in the CarryLove shop, so it didn’t surprise me that, practically from the first days of sales, there were loads of questions about LennyLight. After a few weeks on our shelves and trying and testing it together with parents, I can write with full conviction that LennyLamb has created another great ergonomic carrier! So what is LennyLight like?

The LennyLight carrier, the new model from LennyLamb

LennyLight is a buckle carrier, probably still the most popular type among babywearing parents. Putting it on quickly and easily is made even simpler by the magnetic buckle of the chest belt. You just bring the buckle parts close together and they fasten by themselves. In addition, the shoulder straps are soft and thinner than in the UpGrade model. This makes it easy to adjust the height of the chest belt, which – I admit – is a problem for many parents in the UpGrade carrier. The ergonomic LennyLight carrier is adjustable. This means we can adapt the height and width of its panel to the child’s measurements. Lenny’s new model grows with your baby from size 62 to approx. 98/104. LennyLight can therefore serve for several years of babywearing (later you can switch to a preschool carrier from Lenny, which has three of them).

The hip belt is slightly stiffer than in the LennyUpGrade, which for me personally is a plus. It relieves the wearer’s back well and “sits” stably on the hips. The traditional small pocket is also in its usual place. In other LennyLamb carriers I always suggest keeping the hood in it, but LennyLight has no hood. On the one hand that’s a pity, since you might think the hood, which stabilises a sleeping child’s head, is a carrier standard; from experience, though, I know parents almost never use those hoods.

LennyLight, or less is more

What sets LennyLight apart is its compactness and minimalist construction. There are as many buckles and straps as there should be to adjust the carrier properly. There are no buttons, which many parents welcome. The wide bands securing the buckles that we know from other carriers have been replaced with thin elastics. Thanks to these changes, LennyLight is light, small when folded, and at the same time just as supportive as other LennyLamb baby carriers. By introducing another infant carrier, LennyLight, LennyLamb has joined the global babywearing trend of compactness. The new carrier weighs well under 1 kilogram and will even fit in a waist pouch (which you can also buy from Lenny!).

What does a CarryLove babywearing consultant think of LennyLight?

That’s the theory. But how does the LennyLight carrier work in practice? Every week at CarryLove we have dozens of carrier fittings, which are ideal opportunities to try new models. Parents of little ones are very interested in new products, so we have plenty of hands-on experience with LennyLight. What comes out of it?

LennyLight has all the advantages of the other carriers made by LennyLamb. It is comfortable and adjusts superbly, even for a tiny baby (children wearing clothes in size 62/68). The carrier adapts well to both mum and dad if they differ in build. It supports and stabilises the position of the youngest babies very well (which is quite hard to achieve on your own in some models). Personally, I think LennyLight is a great choice for parents looking for a compact solution for quick city outings or a carrier they will use occasionally.

With this babywearing product LennyLamb fits perfectly into the trend of compact ergonomic carriers. I’m not surprised LennyLight has been so well received. And those colour versions :)
